Iran Gabbeh Rug Unique Sand Dune

This original nomadic rug shows the desert in Iran with a light wind blowing. The wind shapes the sand into fine dunes. Small, wiry shrubs and plants grow in the desert. The nomad weaves what she sees in nature and on her wanderings through the vast countryside. She lovingly hand-knotted the unique piece in the open air. The rug is largely made of undyed and hand-spun Zagros wool. The small red details that the weaver has included in the unique piece have been coloured with natural dyes. The colours are derived from materials such as roots or flowers. Because the Zagros wool has a high residual fat content, the unique piece is particularly insensitive. 

Our direct import price means that you buy our rugs between 25 - 35% cheaper than traditional retail, because we select and buy the rugs directly on site in the country of origin. This also means that there is no intermediate trade between us and the manufacturer. We pass this price advantage on to our customers in full.

As our nomadic rugs are hand-knotted, it may be that small wool threads push upwards at the beginning. This is not a material defect, but the testimony of a genuine, hand-knotted rug. The threads can easily be cut off with scissors. We recommend using a hoover with a flat nozzle. This is more gentle on the handmade rug. As this rug is a purely natural product, stains can generally be removed very easily and without complications. Simply wash the stain out with neutral soap and water. Under no circumstances should you use chemical cleaning agents, as the rug is made of pure natural materials and the wool will then be attacked.
